Thank you to everyone who sent Murray good wishes. It worked! :) The vet said it's just a sprain. She gave him a shot for now, and some pain pills for later. If he's not noticeably better by Monday, we have to bring him back in, but S said Murray was standing on the vet's table for longer stretches--which he wasn't doing earlier--and seemed a little better. He's sleeping off the shot now, and generally still looks pretty pathetic, but at least we know it's not something more serious.

It really is so hard with the little creatures, trying to guess what could be wrong, and imagining all sorts of horrible things. You feel so helpless.

But anyway...Phew!

I think something's wrong with my Murray. I got up at my usual time and went to let them outside. Sam bounded right out the door, but Murray just lay in his cage and stared up at me. He does this occasionally, so I just scooped him up and deposited him on the back porch. Well, he just crumpled. I mean, right to the ground. He held his little right hind leg up and it was just shaking. I tried to coax him into the yard, but no go. I even left him for a few minutes, but when I came back he was right where I'd put him.

I brought him inside and he just stayed right where I put him down. I tried to entice him with liver treats, Doritos, and lunch meat, all of which he LOVES and which normally send him running into the kitchen, but...nothing. He ate them when I gave them to him, but he wouldn't come get them on his own. This is not Murray-like behavior.

He has been laying on their pillow all morning long. He's mostly sleeping, but sometimes he'll open his big, bulgy eyes and stare at me so pitifully. When I tried to pick him up again, he squealed like he was in pain. I took him outside because I know his little bladder must be bursting, but he just whimpered and rolled over onto his back.

S is coming home at lunch to check on him. I know something's really wrong. Even Sam is being unusually gentle with him.

Poor little Shmoopy dog.

Just brought Sam back from the vet. At one point, he was surrounded by nurses oohing and cooing over him, and he totally GROWLED and BARKED at them. Like, real barks. Not yips, but actual, miniature barks.

And then this beautiful Irish Setter sauntered by, and he just went nuts. Nothin' funnier than a 3-lb dog trying to intimidate an Irish Setter, let me tell you.

Last night we ordered digital cable for the new house.

BBC America, here I come!!!

[livejournal.com profile] austin360 basically detailed out all my problems with last night's Oscars. Chris Rock? I like him, but I don't think his humor worked for the Oscars. And there was freakin' way too much Beyoncé. Why aren't her 15 minutes over? Why is she still being shoved down my throat? (See also: Puff Daddy, or whatever he's calling himself these days.)

The high points were Morgan Freeman's win and, of course, Cate Blanchett's. She looked stunning, as usual. I didn't care overly much for 'The Aviator,' but I loved her in it. I love her in everything. Emma Thompson is secure in her spot as my most adored actress, but the Mesdames Winslet and Blanchett are very close behind her. Speaking of which, Kate Winslet was a goddess in that blue dress.

First of all--Check out my be-yew-ti-ful new mood theme, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] fineeyes. I've been wanting one of these for a while, and happened upon this one with the lovely Cate, so copious thanks to fineeyes. I sincerely hope it was not as much trouble to create it as it was to upload it, because LJ was giving me fits last night.

Project Runway rant that probably only dianora2 will be interested in. )

In other news, S and I are still debating on a name for our puppy. This does not bode well for our future children.

Still no puppy. I am puppyless. My house is a puppy-free zone. Number of adults: 2. Number of birds: 1. Number of puppies: 0.

I need something little and furry to love, you just don't even know. My bird hates me, so he's no help.

S asked if he could get a rat. A rat, people. I mean, I'm not the kind of girl who freaks out over creepies and crawlies in general, but a RAT? Just the thought of having to look at a rat every day--even in a cage--gives me the heebs. Ew.

Ew, ew, ew.

So the puppy search continues.

I'm going to brave the internet police to hang out on LJ tomorrow at work. Catch y'all on the flip side.

(I don't know why I said that, 'on the flip side.' I am such a geek.)
