Is anyone else watching Texas Ranch House this week? I am, of course. And of course I am loving it! I think my love of PBS' Houses (Frontier House, 1900 House, Manor House, Colonial House), is well-documented (maybe on d-x, if not here).
This seemed like a filler episode, but I enjoyed several things about it. I loved Emily being a drama queen. "Excuse me, Jackie O, I'm looking for my mother?" Hee. And of course, Sookie and Jackson trying to hide the kilo of 'pickles.' "I told them to weed the back garden. They're not the brightest!" Heeeee!
My favorite moment was in the real estate office. It wasn't until Emily insisted Lorelai give her opinion of the house that I realized what was up. And OMG, that house! I would die for that house. When Lorelai started to break down and Emily went to her, I said out loud, "Be her mother. Please just be her mother." I was so anticipating a 'This is so typical of you, Lorelai' lecture, that I damn near cried at Emily's expression and the way she touched her daughter. That was so lovely. Not a grand gesture, but it meant a lot.
Rory's storyline annoyed me, though, particularly when she called The Wall Street Journal to make a correction to Mitchum's statement. Please. Give it a rest, Rory.
One of the things I've noticed over my many viewings of this show is that Rory could stand a good kick in the pants once in a while. All her life everyone has petted and praised her to the skies. Except for Paris, she's never really had anyone take her to task. (Okay, and Dean's mother-in-law.) It just gets a little old having the characters constantly be all, "Oh, Rory, you're the prettiest," "Oh, Rory, everyone loves you! How could anyone not love you?," "You're Stars Hollow's town treasure!" Blah blah blah. She's pretty, she's smart, she's loveable...I get it, okay?
Have I said all this before? I feel like I've said all this before.
Anyway.
S and I may have come up with a solution to allow me to stay home with Small Anne at least till autumn, by which time we will possibly have a permanent solution, if all goes well. I'll keep you posted!
