Is anyone else watching Texas Ranch House this week? I am, of course. And of course I am loving it! I think my love of PBS' Houses (Frontier House, 1900 House, Manor House, Colonial House), is well-documented (maybe on d-x, if not here).

Gilmore Girls )

Anyway.

S and I may have come up with a solution to allow me to stay home with Small Anne at least till autumn, by which time we will possibly have a permanent solution, if all goes well. I'll keep you posted!

My aunt safely delivered baby #3 last night. My cousin safely delivered baby #3 two weeks ago. Both of them announced their pregnancies after me.

Is there no justice in this world?

Hee. Okay, I'm not really that bitter. Now that it's the weekend, I'd actually kind of like to hold out till Sunday night. I still don't relish the idea of inducing, but if I go into labor before then, it will be another doctor who delivers me since my doctor isn't on call this weekend. And I really want it to be my doctor.

Of course, now that I say that, I'll go into labor tonight.

It's bizarre to realize that this is our last weekend, potentially our last few hours, as...just us. We don't have any big plans. I'm going to make S take me out for seafood (he hates seafood), and then I may spend my gift certificate at B&N. Woohoo! Party people. But it will be nice. I think we'll make the most of it. I know it will go by fast, but we're both so anxiou and excited, I don't think we'll mind.

I keep forgetting to mention that over New Year's weekend, S and I picked up a DVR. We debated getting a TiVo, but it was more practical for us to go with a DVR. Man alive, how did we live without this thing? It is magic.

"It's still just once a year, isn't it?"

Hee.

Happy Groundhog Day!

I was intending to call my parents' house and leave a message singing, "I Got You Babe," but they beat me to it. When I got to work, my sister had left me a voicemail, yelling, "It's GROUNDHOG DAY!" just the way the deejays do on the radio in the movie. And when I called back, they were already watching it, and so we quoted it for about five minutes ("Well, what if there IS no tomorrow? There wasn't one today!") and laughed like it was the first time we'd traded quotes from that movie, instead of the bazillionth.

My family are dorks. I love that.

PS. Can anyone make me an icon with this picture, and put the words, "Don't mess with me, porkchop." on it? I can send the original picture if it would help.

Heeee!

I just talked to my 17-year-old sister. She is so, so funny. She's like my mom: she says bizarre things that make sense only to her, and yet she's terribly witty.

My new favorite thing she said was when describing my aunt's husband today: "He has a styrofoam personality."

Pressed for clarification, she replied, "You know, he's all light and flaky and airy and he takes up space and there's, like, nothing there."

I love my sister.

My dad is going back to school. )

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] michellek:

  • Scan my interest list and pick out the one that seems the most odd to you.

  • I'll explain it.

  • Then you post this in your journal so other people can ask you about your interests.

If you're bored, drop me a response! Hee.

I, of course, wasn't able to reply to all your recent replies in a timely manner, but I would have just repeated myself a dozen times, anyway. My response would have been: "I feel so loved!" And I do. And I love all y'all right back. So much.

Yesterday was my parents' 27th wedding anniversary. 27th. Wow. And they've been together longer than that. The Snippet and I are taking my two sisters for the weekend, so as to give the folks anniversary time. This should be interesting. As I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] austin360 today, the baby sister uses S as her human jungle gym. As soon as she sees him, she immediately squeals his name and does a flying leap into his arms, and then scales up his body like a monkey in a tree. She especially likes to perch near his head. It's the cutest thing ever, but if I were him, it would drive me crazy. Luckily he really does have the patience of a saint.

As for the teenage sister, I think she's coming over solely to play Sims2. I feel so cheap and used!

I can't even tell you how lovely it is knowing I can chat with any of you over email, if I have to miss out on LJ.

Hope everyone has a brilliant weekend.

    Pa's Day

Can someone please tell me how to find my pa a Father's Day card that doesn't involve golfing, fishing, home repair, or sitting on the couch in a bathrobe and drinking a beer?

I do not get this. There are a million varieties of Mother's Day cards, but apparently all fathers fit into the greeting card industry's selected molds.

    So. Annoying.

My dad hates golf. He likes fishing, but if I gave him a card to do with fishing, he'd think I was insane. He isn't in to duct tape and home repair. He doesn't even have a bathrobe, and my mom hates it when he drinks beer. He doesn't have fantasies of riding lawnmowers. He's never threatened my boyfriends. He isn't in love with his barbeque grill.

Where is my card? Where is that card that says, "Papa, I love the way you rag on me and make me laugh and the way we make fun of Mom together, and how quiet you are and how much you don't mind that I am just like you"? Or, "Happy Father's Day, Pa! You are pretty cool and I promise I'll put you in a good home when the time comes." Ha. He would enjoy that.

    Damn you, greeting card industry!

S and I are taking my grandpa Jones out to dinner tonight. I called him Tuesday to check he was free tonight, and reiterated several times we would be by Thursday around 6.30, since I'm off work at 6. So last night he calls my dad and my aunt, complaining that I said we'd be there last night by 6 and wondering where we were. Sigh. He's almost 90, and lately he's become forgetful...paying the gas company twice when he no longer has gas in his new place, etc. It made me sad. He's always been so sharp and spry.

In other, lesser news, I have been having fun today making myself icons. They are, unfortunately, the exact opposite of fancy, particularly the fonts, but I'm making do with what my office computer has to offer. But this way I can keep myself amused with the low-tech side of things and bother certain other persons when I have the itch for somethin' faincy *g*

It is so much fun. Also so very frustrating.

If I get fired, y'all know why.
